If you run a poker school or do poker coaching, your ranges are your most valuable material. And you probably share them the way almost everyone does: PDFs, images on Discord, spreadsheets… It works until you update a range and half your students keep using the old version, or until you have no idea who has actually studied them. In this guide we explain how to share ranges with your students in an organized way, controlling what each one can do and tracking their progress.
The problem with sharing ranges as PDFs
Loose files have three problems every coach knows:
- They go out of date: every change means resending the file, and you never know who has the latest version.
- They get copied and passed around: once sent, you have no control over where they end up.
- You don’t know if they’re being studied: a downloaded PDF doesn’t tell you whether the student has mastered it or never opened it.
The alternative is to keep your ranges in one place, give your students access and have them study right there. That’s what Burn EV’s School section does.
Organize your material by level
Before inviting anyone, think about how you’ll split up your material. What you share are complete range sets, so each set should make sense on its own. A structure that works well:
| Range set | Who it’s for | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Fundamentals | All students | Opens by position and deep-stacked BB defense |
| Short-stack tournaments | MTT students | Push/fold, 3-bet shoves and calls by stack depth |
| Advanced | Selected students | 3-bets, squeezes and ICM adjustments |
Create each set in the editor and save it to your account: only saved sets can be shared. If you don’t have your charts yet, follow the guide to building your own preflop ranges.
Invite your students
Once the School plan is active, the School section becomes your school’s dashboard. There’s nothing else to set up.
- Ask each student to sign up for Burn EV. A Free account is all they need, at no cost.
- In the Students area, enter the email they signed up with and click Invite.
- The student will see the invitation in their School section and can accept it.
The list shows each student’s status (invitation pending, declined, or student since a given date) and which sets they can see. The number of students depends on the seats you purchase, and pending invitations count too. If someone leaves the school, Remove stops them from seeing your sets immediately.
Decide what each student can do
For each range set you choose who can see it:
- Not shared: nobody.
- All students: current students and anyone who joins later.
- Selected only: the students you tick.
And what they can do with it:
| Permission | What it allows | When to grant it |
|---|---|---|
| View | Look at the charts in the viewer (always read-only) | Almost always |
| Practice | Train the set with the hand quiz and blind mode | Whenever you want them to memorize it |
| Export | Download the charts as PNG or PDF | Only if you’re happy for them to leave the platform |
Protect your material
If you don’t want your ranges circulating, share with view and practice but without export. Your students can study them as much as they like, and they can never modify them.
Turn your account into a school and share your ranges with students, who can use them with a Free account.
Update a range without resending anything
This is the big advantage over files: when you change a range in your set and save it, your students see the new version the next time they load it. No old versions floating around, and no need to tell anyone to delete the previous PDF.
Use it to iterate: if hand reviews show that a spot is being misplayed, fix the chart and everyone is studying the correct version right away.
Track your students’ progress
When your students practice your sets, their progress is individual: each one has their own stats, accuracy per chart and weak spots, and quiz answers count toward their ELO. One student’s progress never mixes with another’s.
Use it in your lessons: ask each student to check their advanced stats before the session and work together on the hands and charts with the lowest accuracy. It’s a quick way to know what each student gets wrong without reviewing hundreds of hands.
A study plan for your school
- Week 1: share the fundamentals set with view and practice. Goal: BTN and CO opens above 90% accuracy.
- Week 2: add the rest of the opens and big blind defense.
- Week 3: for tournament students, unlock the short-stack set.
- Every week: group review of the most-missed hands, and range corrections if needed.

Frequently asked questions
Do my students have to pay to see my ranges?
No. Students can use a Free account: with it they can view and practice the sets you share, according to the permissions you give them.
Can my students modify or copy my ranges?
They can never modify them. They can only export them as PNG or PDF if you grant that permission on the set.
How many students can I have?
It depends on the student seats you purchase with the School plan; pending invitations count too. You can also save up to 20 range sets.
What happens if I stop paying for the School plan?
Your students stop seeing your sets until you renew. Permissions are kept, so when you renew everything works as before.
